Summer in November

My hair is still uber-short, not entirely filled in, and still a little pathetic-looking — but it’s 96 degrees here, I have to run a bunch of errands, and I’ll be damned if I’m wearing a hat or scarf in this weather.

I have my fierce penciled eyebrows and big earrings — and that’s enough.

My first day going out in public — not a medical appointment, and not just around my yard — with just-my-hair.

  1. You dear are such a courageous person – hair is such a big thing especially for woman. I too most of
mine during one sickness and never got the gumption to leave the house – good for you. Hugs

    1. Hugs back atcha, Crystal-Diane 🙂 At some point we have to get back to normal — or establish a new normal. It just felt like that time for me. I know you’re dealing with a very new normal right now, a much more difficult transition than barely-there hair, and I wish you the best of luck and strength.

  2. The hell with your hair! You should be rejoicing you can run your own errands now! Kudos!
For what it’s worth, I have the following Bible verse on my wall (in the stairwell) and have been trying to fully embrace/understand it for years:
“Rejoice in our suffering, suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character, and character, hope.” Romans 5:3

I know it’s true. I just wish it were not so damn hard!
    Happy Veterans Day. Love you.

    1. Kathy, we can’t always choose the crap that happens to us (aka “suffering”) but we choose how to react. We can choose not to be angry or bitter, and we can choose to never give up hope. I see you as a positive person who tries to see the best in things. Love you too ♥

      1. Yes, exactly. Absolutely. I think you have been doing a remarkable job of “rising above.”
Also, I like to think of the concept of “suffering” more as “tolerating”…anyway, hang in there and hope to have another fun day with you soon! xoxo
